Anyone tired the new Java 6.0 yet? I have it installed and it seems to work fine. When I open the aboutlugins directory in Firefox though I see a huge list of Java 6 entries that were never there with previous versions. Looks like they might have included many of the past versions as well judging by the version numbers. Maybe for compatibility reasons? On another note, Firefox 2.0.0.1 is out and it cannot use Java 6 Console, though all other functions work fine so far.

Java is crap. New runtimes are not compatible with previous ones and lot of programs always include their own java runtime. Lot of hdd space lost for nothing.
And also, it's very slow. When you have the spinning "flower" logo while loading an applet it can take ages to start.
This is why I don't install java runtimes anymore. -
I'm really not too fond of Java either but certain things do require it, especially when you run Firefox, which doesn't support ActiveX.
I upgraded work PCs that have J2SE 5.0 Update 10 and had no warning messages from Firefox like I had with Java 6.
