I have had a problem for several months and have tried a lot of different things with no results. I record video on VCRs and CAMCorders, then I create digital video with InterVideo from ConvertX analogue to digital converter via a usb port. Once InterVideo has copied the digital video I then create a mp3 video file. Then I use Adacity to extract the audio from the mp3 video file. Each time I do this I get random noise spikes, maybe 1 or 2 spikes in every 1 minute of audio. Then I have to go in an edit out the noise spikes which is very time comsuming. I have tried different input recordings from multiple VCRs and CAMCorders and I have played around with some of the settings, but nothing has worked to get rid of these noise spikes. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Larry

  2. At each step of that process, you need to check for the presence of the spikes. Then you will know what step is introducing them. That will help find a way to prevent their introduction.

"analogue to digital converter via a usb port" ???

Audio in via line-in on system sound device ... not via usb device .

See how it gose doing it this way ... and report back after .

    ----------------------

1: Defrag system before capture .
2: Kill off all process's that dont need to be running , prior to conversion / capture .
3: Dont do anything untill capture complete's .

    4: What is "cpu" ... it's not listed in pc spec's .
    5: Sp2 ... yes or no .
