    Hi,
I am taking multiple video segments and making one DVD. I use AviSynth to do all of my conversions and it works great. What I need is a method to be able to determine the volume level of the original file. Something that would give me the decibels would be great. I could then use AviSynth's filters to make sure all of my converted files were recorded at the same volume.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Scott

Pretty much all audio editors do this. Audacity is free. Most also have a normalise function.

    AVSAmp

A command line program which reads the audio from an AviSynth script (.avs) and calculates an amplification factor that can be used to achieve 100% normalization. If you want to normalize to some value other than 100%, simply multiply by that value (i.e. if you want to normalize to 96%, multiply the result of AVSAmp by 0.96). You can use this amplification factor with AviSynth's Amplify() filter.

Thanks! I'll try that out. (Incidentally, I downloaded your Rotate Calculator as well. This will come in VERY handy at work.)
