From the Sony site, the format seems to be:

    Memory Stick video format:
    MPEG-4 SP (AAC)
    H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Main Profile (AAC)

I would look to SUPER first. It handles a lot of formats, is freeware and is fairly easy to use. For other programs, look here: https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=36#36

I would take a look in our Portable Video Forum for more specific information. Moving you.

I don't have a PSP, so in general, the bitrate determines the filesize. I would use a lower bitrate for the audio to save space for the video. It appears a lot of this depends on how much space you have on your memory stick. Lower bitrate=lower quality. Sorry these comments are generic. I would get the biggest memory stick you can afford if you want to use video.

Most conversion programs will tell you how big the encoded file will be. You fit that to your available memory. If you want more in there, reduce the bitrate and the quality and you can fit more. How much depends on the source and what you can tolerate for quality. There's no set numbers, you have to adjust to your preferences and available memory.

There are likely members that have better info that are more familiar with the device. Just wait a while.

Note that SUPER has a default PSP output template - select "Sony - PSP" in the first drop-down box ("1. Select the Output Container"), and you can then experiment with different options from there. Also, when using the PSP output template, SUPER will only save the videos to its output directory, in the subdirectories the PSP expects to see on the Memory Stick. (I've forgotten the appropriate directories in both cases (SUPER's and the structure on the Memory Stick, so I apologize for not listing them here. )

I don't have a PSP, but I do have an iPod. If you plan on a lot of converting, I really reccomend this device by ADS Tech.

I like the looks of this device you have linked, but it the only thing that puzzles me is the 64kbps audio. Why would they do this?

It's not a typo. I checked the software and confirmed the audio is 64 kbps. Your guess is as good as mine why it's so low, but the results are acceptable to my ear. If you want to PM a short clip to me I will convert it and PM it back to you. Will 512 kbps/30 frames be okay?
