    Another newbie with issuess:
I transferred TiVO recordings to my laptop, then used VideoReDo to cut out commercials and convert to .vob files. Next, using Nero 6 - Nero Vision Express I created the DVD. Only a Video_TS folder with everything in it was created.

It plays fine on the laptop and on the Desay DS-501 DVD Player at home, but the Sampo DVE-611, also a DVD Player at home, does not recognize it. It keeps displaying 'Disc Loading' then finally decides "No disc". I had no issues with playing anything on the Sampo before. I get DVDs from Germany and it plays fine as well as US region DVDs.

Any ideas how to solve this. I read that you are all not too happy with Nero Vision, but I am wondering if there is something else going on since it plays fine on the other DVD Player.

Not all discs play in all players. Could be an issue with the authoring, but could also be a compatibility problem between the brand of disc and the player. That it takes a long time trying to load before rejecting the disc makes me think it is a either a poor burn, or bad sic.

Try to clone the disc to one of a different brand. Reduce burning speed.

Thank you all for your help. So just reduce the speed at which the DVD is being burnt could make a difference?

I am using Memorex DVD-R, says 8x on it?

Some players just don't play any burned media!!

I have a sampo 620 i bought years ago to watch all my import disc's, it won't play any burned media at all.
It does the same thing your's does. I shelved it a few years ago for that reason.
But i also have standalone players that were made before dvd recordable media existed yet they play any recordable dvd format you throw in them.

It's just trial and error. Try at 4x. Slower burns are a little more precise.
    Try a different brand.

If a drive is incapable of playing dvdr media changing burning speed's and media brand will make no diff. at all.

And the brand name on the disc mean's little to nothing, you need to check the media id to see who it is really manufactured by.

How else can you find out if that's the case except by trying different media?
