Is this device worth this deal.
I'm just trying to get started in video capturing.
    Thanks

Take those user comments lightly! About 1/2 of the people that make comments there have never done any video work, and they hate the product and/or software, because they have too little processing power, or don't know how to use the software. I've chatted with a guy on cdfreaks quite a bit, and he LOVES his plextor. The ulead studio 8 software is decent. I've use ulead studio 6, and it creates movies almost as well as my Vegas 5 software. It just doesn't have all the bells and whistles like upper level softwares.

If you are only going to use this for self use, it will be more than sufficient. If you want to make money doing this as a job or part time job, then no, it wouldn't be good.
