Well I use to do this long ago and decided to start doing't againg. My problem is that I remember the elements of the basic dvd creating process but don't really remember the oreder so if u guys could help me to organize myself I would be very gratefull to u all. For what I remember u have to take the avi and converted to mpg then is ready to edit I am using DVD-lab, did I have to extract the audio? If the anwer is yes please recomend me a tool. And just for the record if I encode the audio and the video separatly and then put then like the separate and unique files that they are will that give me a better quality of audio and video on the final dvd result.
    Thanks in advance.

    Let's start slowly

What is the source of the avi ? DV, Divx/Xvid ?

Editing should come before encoding to mpeg.

DVD Lab is the last program in the chain.

CAPTURE>EDIT>ENCODE>AUTHOR>BURN are the usual steps, depending on your source. How you handle the audio also depends on it's format. Look to the upper left for 'WHAT IS' DVD for the DVD structure and format.
