  2. I don't know a .mod format. You can try to use these renamed mpg files directly in GfD, but it may be necessary to demultiplex the files and use the elementary streams. There are a lot of free demultiplexers around: https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=111#111

No best way. Most free authoring tools require demuxed streams/split audio and video as borax says, see https://www.videohelp.com/tools?listuser=&orderby=Type&s=2#2 and demux with https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=111#111

But the mpg may not be in compliant dvd format(aren't mod from a hd camera?), then you must convert to compliant dvd format and you need a dvd mpg encoder or an all-in-one dvd converter. See the Tools list again, www.videohelp.com/tools

    hi borax & baldrick,

    thanks for the reply....

yes.. mod is the format from a hd camera (jvc everio)... i used gspot on the mod file and the "container" is "dvd vob format"... is this the same as "dvd format"??...

i bascially want to compile all the video clips into a dvd and i'm not very sure how to go about doing it... should i :

    1) demux all the individual files, convert them to separate vobs then compile them to dvds, or

    2) join all the individual files to 1 big file, then convert them to vobs then burn it?

either option, how do i add menus & chapters (like different "episodes")?...

sorry if they are stupid questions as i'm new to this (it's my first camcorder !! )...

    thanks for the help !!...

  5. 'DVD format' has some other 'limitations' (max. resolution + bitrate, audio format...) which mpg (and 'vob' is just mpg) doesn't has as 'strict'.

As I already told you, try to use the renamed mpg files directy in GfD (drag and drop the mpg files on the background). This will create a simple menu. Run the authoring process and see if any errors appear.
    Very simple introduction:
