    Hi,

I have an older 2.1mp sony digital camera. It uses the first gen memory stick cards. I tried a memory stick pro in it once and it wouldn't read anything. Are there any type of pro cards that will work in non-pro cameras? I have a 32mb, a 4mb and a 64mb card (I can't currently find the 64mb card). I was hoping to buy a higher capacity pro stick someday for more space but the one pro card I tried wouldn't work. I can give you the model number of my camera later if its necessary.

I know that cameras are so cheap these days that it would be really simple to buy a much more powerful camera that would either run on sd cards (cheaper) or a newer low price sony that would work with pro sticks.

    Thanks for any info.

Cameras that do not support MS Pro, usually are limited to the old MS standard. This means capacity of up to 128MB.

In this format you can find 256 MB cards that have two 128 MB banks. This is when the fisrt back is full, you take out the MS and switch to bank number 2.

I also have seen some MS devices that support MS Pro, but does not support High Speed Pro or DUO Pro cards.

What model of camera do you have?

It's one of the bulky older model. Well I guess I'll have to search the net for 128's then. Thanks.

Mine is DSC-S85, some 5 years old.
It will not recognize Sony memory cards larger than 128 MB. It gives errors when larger capacity is put in it.
There is a compatibility chart somewhere on Sony web page, so you can check for your model.
