Any good alternate to cyberhome ?

Hi,
Some online search revealed that Cyberhome USA no longer exists after their inventory was seized this June. I can still find the Cyberhome 300 model online but not too sure if its worth a shot, specially because if the company no longer exists, the online retailer may or may not return a defective unit, any experiences on buying this unit after June 06? The reviews for this unit are mixed, some folks never had a problem, where others reported problems in a month or two...
The main reason I wanted this one is because it plays almost all formats and is regios free as well as accepts the Asian/European power input 220 volts. Since I need it to work overseas, I couldnt find any cheap dvd players at Walmart, Target, etc. that have the 220V power option, atleast not in my range of around $40.
If there are any other brands/models that someone has experienced, please please let me know. I need to buy it quick as it will need to go overseas as a gift before Dec.10th.

I previously own a Ciber home, but ended up changed by a Lite On with turn out to be a better unit.

Thanks for the replies guys.... however, the suggested dvd players are all around $90+ which is way out of my range. I understand that you get what you pay for but I'm currently looking to spend no more than $40.
What I have found out so far is that the Coby players, like Cyberhome, also work with international voltage 220volts (Europe/Asia). I was looking at the reviews on this site and they are mixed. There are a couple models which are available at retail stores like, CVS Pharmacy (DVD-206), abcwarehouse (dvd-207, dvd-254). The dvd-224 model also looks nice and compact but I couldn't find a retailer that carries it, unless I buy online which may be a problem if I want it in a week or so. If anyone knows of a retailer for dvd-224, please let me know.
Anyone has any suggestions/recommendations on these? I couldn't find another cheap brand that will work on 220v, but I could be wrong..... please help

Spend a bit more and get the Philips DVP-5140 ... the price is $49 and change at any WALMART.

Now the benefit of this model:

1.) Does PAL to NTSC conversion as well as NTSC to PAL conversion. Can also output NTSC as NTSC or output PAL as PAL.

2.) Is not region free "out of the box" but can very easily be "hacked" to be region free. The hack is listed in the "DVD Hacks" section of this website. Once you apply the hack the DVD player is region free and will play any DVD Video disc.

3.) Excellent support for MPEG-4 files such as DivX AVI and XviD AVI files.

There are two problems though ... it is $10 more than what you want to spend and it is "Power supply : 120V, 60Hz"

However you can purchase a 220v converter for around $15.00 give or take.

For your "price range" this is a most excellent DVD player. There are other models that cost much more (like the Pioneer) that essentially use the same chipset making the Philips DVP-5140 a real "steal" for the price. In other words, despite the cheap price, it performs as one would expect a "more expensive" unit to perform. It is not a "budget" player ala a Cyberhome or Colby etc. (both of which are junk).

I know it kinda sucks that it can't do 220v but like I said a power converter is cheap. I have no experience with such units but I saw one on-line that was all of $15.00 which is cheap. Total cost (not counting sales tax or S&H) is only $65.00 for both the DVD player and the 220v converter.

I wouldn't use that as a DVD player even if I got it for free.

Might make a nice door stop or paper weight though.

OK I feel better now ... I thought you had lost it there for a moment suggesting that POS but yeah it was under his self imposed price cap of $40

Seriously though I hope he is smart enough to go with the Philips DVP-5140.
