Can anyone recommend me a good free capturing tool. I really like and use AMCAP (https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=AMcap) But it is shareware(Demo). And I hate the software of my webcam. Are there any other free webcam capturing tools?

    Virtualdub should do the job

There's an older Amcap (2.72 - fully functional) available from the
    BTWincap driver site.

  4. I like Virtual VCR. I switched to that a few years ago and have never looked back. I personally like how you can save and load profiles since I often capture in both PAL and NTSC.

webcams are usually "video for windows" uncompressed at low resolutions and low framerates. They usually need a driver for control. Once the driver is installed, the webcam will show under capture devices and the controls show under preferences

  7. Captureflux is excellent with most webcams, and has many features like taking snapshots, scheduling the capture, inlaying the date.

  8. If you just want the lightweight fullscreen view the program offers I didn't find these tools satisfying, but this open source modification does that http://code.google.com/p/amcap/.

A lightweight fullscreen webcam viewer with full resolution and fps configuration was surprisingly difficult to find, but this program does that.
