Audio for mpeg can have a delay in it. If this isn't recognised for some reason, the audio can be aligned to the start of the video, causing sync issues. If you open the demux video and audio in media player classic, you can adjust the audio skew until it is in sync, then use this to correct the delay in DVD Lab Pro.

is the problem in DVDlabPRO or Media Player Classic?

The problem is most likely how the original mpeg was encoded. DLP can't determine what the delay is supposed to be, so it starts the audio at the beginning of the video. Media Player Classic is just a handy way to determine that the delay should be. Make sure you open the demuxed versions, and not the original in MPC.

DLP should tell you what the audio delay is if you select the original MPG file (telling it not to demultiplex it) and select Tools->Audio delay, then you can apply the same delay to your (demuxed) audio stream.

...if the info is correct in the mpg, which is doubtful if DLP gets it wrong.

Again, determine how the audio is off. If it is constantly off by the same amount all the way through, you can just adjust the delay in DLP and re-compile.

If the audio starts in sync, then goes out after one of the edits then the culprit is MVW, and you can really only fix it by re-editing the audio.
