  1. at least that's what both my pc sw (kingmpeg player, Nero etc) and my dvd players show but the XVCD real lenght is the same (46 min) and also its size (800MB)is correct. I used TMPGenc 2.02. Does anybody have a clue?

  2. Do you mean that Nero says that your movie takes up 76 minutes on your cd? If so, thats just how much of your free space on the cd your movie needs, it has nothing to do with the movie lenght. The higher bitrate, the more space will the movie take on your cds.

  3. not just nero! Also pc players like KINGMpeg and Windows Media and even my standalone dvd player say 76 minutes but the actual lenght is 46!

That normal since many software and players read the actually physical space used in the disc to determine length intead of actual playtime.
My DVD player will initially display 50mins for a 20min VCD but after it's done playing it will display 20mins

  5. that's what i thought! but it's weird because that doesn't happen to me with standard vcds!?

  6. That's because the player is calibrated for standard VCDs.

If you create an XVCD @ 2300 bitrate (rather than 1150), you'll see almost exactly twice the actual time (because at twice the bitrate, it takes twice the space, so if it really WAS a vcd, it would be twice the time).
