To expand jagabo's post, a video card has no effect on editing or encoding, only on viewing. What you presently have will work fine. The advantage for you for a add-on video card would be more graphics settings, a gain in available memory as your on-board card is using part of your system memory, and maybe additional output options, depending on the card.
Editing can be helped by having more than one hard drive, in addition to your boot drive, and definitely by having a faster CPU. Encoding can be helped mainly by a faster CPU, and a small bit by having a additional hard drive. Additional memory helps very little in both procedures, assuming you have 512MB at present and are running XP.
