Sorry if this is not the right place to post this, but I have been having problems in posting anything on this website (it does not give me the option to simply post a question, even though I have registered some months ago). In the last few days I have been having problems whether I play mpeg files, or home made DVDs, or even with regular purchased movie DVDs. Every time I try to play these, the colors are really pale, almost b/w, as if the red color is missing. It actually seems that the OPPOSITE colors are displayed. Not only I experience it with every media type, the same happens when I use another external DVD player. I have tried to update the driver/s for the videocard, to no avail. The only thing which changed in the last few weeks is that my son is playing a PC Game (Total War - Rome) on my PC. Could that be the culprit? I would be grateful for any suggestions. I cannot watch anything on my computer because of this.Thanking you.

  2. Can you post an example image?

    Does the video look green/purple?

What player are you using? Try installing a player such as VLC that uses its own codecs. If it works, then you are having a codec issue (most likely), if it doesn't work...

  4. Have you tried a different monitor? I had a red gun go on me every so slowly and my head just adjusted for it. I only noticed the problem when displaying pictures and noticed that flesh tones were messed up. Try putting a sheet of white paper next to a full screen window with a white background and see if there is a color shift.

Dear JohnnyMalaria, Krispy Kritter, trossin. Many thanks for your prompt replies. Actually, just after posting my original question, earlier this a.m. I used System Restore to a checkpoint a month earlier, and it WORKED!!!! (I do not know why, but it does not matter, I guess). Again, I am grateful for your feedbacks/suggestions.

How would that affect playing an external DVD player to the TV?

Dear edDV, I do not connect TV to my computer. I referred to my external DVD player connected to my computer. Now, everything plays well (mpeg, burned DVDs, purchased DVDs). I can only think that something in my PC's videocard got messed up. Thank you for your question.
