Hi guys i'm new here, and have been browsing searching forums, but cant seem to find what i'm looking for. i'm using Super from a great tip i found here from one of-you-good guys. But with all the options/capabiltys im wondering what to use.

i have a list of .flvs that i want to convert and get onto DVD, but my question is, What should i convert them to?? what is recommended best for quality/or settings that i should keep in mind??

ive tried total video converter & riva, to convert to avi but the results werent good, image was very pixelated.

thanks for any bit of advice--itd be highly appreciated.

Anytime you convert from one format to another you will have some loss. The usual answer is to use enough bitrate to avoid pixelization. You adjust that in the encoder settings.

I'm not that familiar with Flash videos, but converting them to any other format is probably not simple. With simple converters like SUPER, you will likely just have to make the video quite a bit larger to get the bitrate high enough.

What you want to convert them to depends on what you want to play them on. If it's a DVD player, then MPEG-2 or even VCD are a couple of options. If you have a standalone Divx player, then Divx or Xvid would work. If you are only going to watch them on a computer, don't convert them, just use a software player that can play .flvs.

All of the flv files that I have seen are not very large or of very high quality, like the old postage stamp quick time videos. They look OK in their native size format, but there isn't enough data/quality in the files to get a decent product when trying to enlarge the video. They are usually heavily compressed for viewing in a browser window. I wouldn't expect you will get any results worth your time.

how do you even get SUPER to convert the flv? I always get an error before the conversion completes. I've tried all the flv files I've got and all of them give either a script error or the normal error in SUPER.

Could be that it doesn't support VP62. Gabest's flv splitter now includes a decoder so I would suggest trying that. Once installed you could for example use AVISynth with directshowsource().

I was wondering exactly how I could get super to convert my flv files to dvd? even better if it is possible to have riva convert it to dvd.
