    STANDALONE DVD RECORDER?
    COMPUTER DVD WRITER?

If the latter, I suggest a Pioneer DVR-111 drive. Best Buy and other retailers rebadge them as the S701 or something.

Best Buy sells the retail version of the PIONEER 111D drive as 710. If you can wait until the Black Friday sale which is the day after Thanksgiving the PIONEER 710 will be on sale for $29.99 on Friday and Saturday only.

Yep, I would pay no more than $40 for it, one sale (with or without rebate, preferable without). But $30 is a good deal, no doubt.

Funny, I'm always hard drive limited. Last Thanksgiving I bought one then two more Maxtor 200GB drives @ $39 after rebate. I filled out the rebates but in the process set aside one of the drives. A few weeks ago, I found the drive unformatted
