I am a DJ and I've been purchasing music video dvd's. I have dj software that plays all sorts of video files. I have settled on converting the dvd tracks to divx format. My problem is that some of the songs comprise of 2 tracks. I use the dvd ripper that comes with my dj software and create vob files, which I then convert to divx using dr divx. I want to either combine the necessary vob files and then convert to divx or convert the vob files to divx and then combine the divx files. Whichever way will yield the best results would be fine. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

In every music DVd I've come across, one song=1 chapter. Rip with DVDDecrypter in IFO mode, and set file splitting to none. Check the chapter/song you want (one at a time) and rip. Should give you that song as one VOB. Convert to DivX with AutoGK.If one song should be 2 chapters, just check these 2, and rip.

I used DVD Decrypter, but it still created two files when I selected 2 tracks, which make up ONE song.

Probably the simplest way for you since you are already converting to divx using drdivx... is to simply load the first divx video in VirtualDub, then File - Append Video Segment and load the second file in. Select Video - Direct Stream Copy and Audio - Direct Stream Copy then File - Save AVI and save out the combined video. Encode both files the exact same way and you shouldn't have any trouble at all combining them in VirtualDub.

If you need to trim the splice a little I believe that is possible in VirtualDub. Just check out the edit menu. I think you would use the mark in - mark out point buttons then edit - delete.

    Good luck.

Thanks, Scorpion King. Unfortunately, my first attempt using your suggestion didn't work. In Virtualdub, I got an error message telling me that the two files were not of the same type (I forget the exact message). I found this to be odd because both files were encoded during the same session. I didn't even configure any settings. I'm wondering if this is because track 1 on the song started with a still before the video started. Anyway, I'm going to try again.

    Good luck.
    Open the first AVI.
Drag the slider to the end of the video.
    File - Append AVI Segment
Double click the second AVI file
-- edit the splice using in-out point - Edit - delete- if necessary.
    Video - Direct Stream Copy
    Audio - Direct Stream Copy
File - Save AVI ---- save out the new combined file.

This will not work for files that have different framerates - codecs - or - resolutions.

    Good luck.
