Seriously, I've been reading for two days at this great site. I've learned a lot already, but, I think I'm suffering from brain overload.

Nero (full edition) was my buddy until I realized what a crappy encoder it has. After researching, I ended up buying the TMPGENC Plus. WOW, now I am happy with the quality of my MPEG-2 files.

Basically, I'm just trying to create a DVD with menu from these MPEG 2 files I have. I was able to use one system to create a MENU layout and subsequent VOB files, but now I am having problems actually burning the DVD. eg. what program to use?

I've read about the IFOEdit, Instant CD/DVD (which I cannot find), TMPGENC DVD Author Trial version (which created my VOB's but won't burn the darn dvd...stops at 99%), Click N Burn, DVD AUTHOR GUI (which wants me to de-mux I think....but I'd be getting in over my head possibly), and lastly DVD Decryptor (whose description had said it would burn also, but I don't see that in the app.)

I'm now lost and confused. Is there an easy way to get my VOB burned to a DVD without a program trying to re-encode them like Nero does? I think my audio from TMPGENC Plus is an MPEG I Audio Layer II.

    Please help!

    Thanks.

If you have a video_TS folder, with VOB, IFO and BUP files then the best tool for burning is imgburn2. It's free, and does a very good job.

If you don't have this, I strongly suggest looking at a better authoring tool. TDA is a good choice when you are starting out.

    For dvdauthorgui ... it's really simple .

Grab vobedit , load first vob from title set ... hit demux , choose "mpeg stream" ... down below , choose "demux complete title set" check box ... and click ok .

New box will ask where file gose ... please use a new folder ... let it go and wait .

    -------------------------------

Now back in vobedit main window ... look at what it say's about audio .

... here , the hand cursor is indicating mine contains ac3 (0x80) .

Hit demux , and look at those audio options ... if you saw ac3 , then check that item ... if stream was (0x83) , then hit that arrow button and sellect from the drop down menu ... 0x80 .

The same principal applies to any other audio type found .

Now repeat ... "demux complete title set" ... check that box .

Click ok , and save the audio stream to the same folder where the video stream went ... make's it easier to locate later ... wait till completed .

    --------------------

    Done ... close vobedit .

    --------------------

You can now use these two stream's within dvdauthorgui .

Should you have problem's with audio that was other than ac3 ... use besweet to convert it to ac3 format at 48khz ... then try it again .

  4. Or, alternatively, open the vob(s) in DGIndex. Audio should already be set to "Demux All Tracks". Go File->Save Project And Demux Video. That'll give you the M2V and any audio tracks it contains, with the delay (if any) listed in its name.

Use Rejig in File Mode to demux the vob into *.m2v and *.ac3 files. Then use its DVD Author feature to create your DVD files. Make sure they are in a folder callled VIDEO_TS - then burn that folder with ImgBurn.

Thank you guys for the help. I'm going to give this a shot tomorrow night.

When I encode with TMPGENC Plus - I think my only two audio selections were MPEG-1 Audio Layer I and Audio Layer II. I had left it at default settings.

It seems that some of the programs out there are saying I should have either PCM Audio or Dolby audio when creating a DVD.

Should I be doing something different with TMPGENC, or is it normal that I should DEMUX and then convert my audio to an acceptable format?

Thanks again. Newb's feelin' better. lol.

I keep TMPGEnc Plus set to the defaults, demux it and feed the audio/video files right into DVDAuthorGUI. Then burn with ImgBurn. The default audio format from TMPGEnc Plus is acceptable as an input to DVDAuthorGUI.

(99% of of my DVDs are either source from MiniDV cam footage, or IPTV shows (like DL.TV) that I want to watch from the comfort of my reclining sofa )

    Cheers,
    Jim
