I need a good .avi codec so i can save videos using Virtual Dub
** They don't fit to DV standard, which is why Panasonic DV is not working with these
Which should i use? thanks

What do you want to do with the video ? If you want to do further editing and therefore retain the original quality then Huffyuv or Lagarith would be good, however they will be big - 20 - 40gb per hour depending on the content.
If you want to compress them down for viewing, but don't need to do anything else to them, then look at Xvid.Read my blog here.
