Hi, I have a bunch of music videos (roughly 100) saved with the extension .mpg
I would like to burn them to DVD so I can watch them from a dvd player.
I tried using some programs from Ulead.com but it did not turn out so well.
Can you guys please advise me on different programs and if I need to convert them to a different format? Thanks in advance.

TMPGEncXpress3 (or 4) for editing/encoding to MPEG2 + TMPGDVDAuthorPro for authoring. These are simple to use and fast enough.

If they are dvd compliant you don't need to convert them, throw them in for example tmpgenc dvd author and it will report if they are dvd compliant. If not convert with a mpeg2 encoder or use an easy all-in-one solution like ConvertXtoDVD.

First thing to do is determine if your mpegs are DVD compliant. Use the latest g-spot to see how they have been encoded - specifically framerates and resolution - and compare this to What is DVD (top left corner of this page).

If they are compliant then it should be a simple matter of authoring - creating menus etc - and then burning the DVD to disc. Software to look at would include Tmpgenc DVD Author, DVD Lab or DVD Lab Pro, GUIForDVDAuthor or perhaps DVD Workshop. These vary in price and experience required, but will all do the job.

If you mpegs are not compliant then you will have to re-encode them to a compliant state. This may mean re-sizing and/or converting format, as well as encoding the videos. A DVD can only be PAL or NTSC to be compliant. It cannot have videos from both formats. Some players will play this type of non-compliant DVD, many will not.
