Hello,
I have a USB PVR from hauppauge to connect the TV to the computer. Everything works fine.
But I wanted to save some old VHS movies (homemade), so I connected the video to the composit input, this works fine as well.![]()
BUT, it will only save to interlaced mode, and I want to make it to noninterlaced. I can't find anything in SW to WinTV2000 that I use to store the movie with, (to store it in noninterlaced).
When I then look at it in windows media player the picture is wrong (noniterlaced).![]()
Is there a good program that I can use to convert these mpeg files to noniterlaced format?![]()
I have only seen VERY advanced ways, that uses several different programs and steps.![]()
Thank's in advace

Some capture cards and software support real-time deinterlacing but most do not and frankly it is not the greatest idea to do this at the capture phase anyways.
In fact it is best to leave MPEG-2 as interlaced especially if you are capturing with the intent of burning a standard DVD Video disc.
The only time you would want to deinterlace is if you plan on the final format being a VCD or a MPEG-4 format such as DivX or XviD or some such similiar format.
If you do plan on the final format being one that needs progressive video then you are better off doing the deinterlacing when you do the encode to that final format.

I'm only watching it on my computer (which is connected to my TV). And I only use Windows Media player 10. I also use FFDShow for codes when it's needed.
So, what to do for making it look good in WMP 10? Is it possible?
I don't know if I'm going to make a DVD of it (I don't even own a DVD-player). So then I can keep it in my orginal MPEG2 and whatch on the computer.
Thank's for the help! -
Play your MPEG file with Media Player Classic. While playing, select Play -> Filters -> MPEG2 Video Decoder. Set the deinterlacing method to BOB.

Newer cards will pass interlace video at least over the YPbPr outputs as 480i or 1080i.
If you aren't following all this, computer to TV will most times look crappier than a stand alone DVD player to TV. Newer cards are trying to improve this as HTPC becomes more popular. -
Heheh. In my home-brew media center PC I have a ~10 year old Matrox Millennium G400 graphics card that has perfect interlaced s-video output for TFF MPEG. BFF (ie DV AVI) video comes out in the wrong field order though!
