I have a PCI slot Leadtek DTV2000 H hybrid (anolog and digital ) tv card.
It states in the manual that :
"UNDER STANDBY OR HIBERNATE MODE, THE COMPUTER WILL AUTOMATICALLY AWAKE FOR PRE-SCHEDULED EVENTS"
I have tried this but for some reason the computer will not awake for any timed / scheduled recordings?
If i leave the computer on with the Tv card operating it will record all scheduled recordings as it should and on the last recording i usually select "place into standby" etc... which again, it does.
It is a PCI tv card that has a small 4 pin connection slot with a connecting short wire which i have connected to the motherboard which produces sound when in the analog broadcast (not needed for digital tv). I dont use analogue so this wire in my case is redundant as such, but it is still connected.
Do i have to connect this wire to a power point on the motherboard in order to get it to power up out of standby/hybernate mode?
What am i doing wrong or is there a fault with this card?![]()
Any help would be appreciated.![]()

I never bought into the whole standby/hibernate thing. It just causes alot of problems and issues. Just leave the computer on with all of that stuff turned off. In fact I would turn off the screen saver (it just uses resources) and then turn off the monitor.
Sounds silly I know but it really is that simple.

Probably what FulciLives is the easiest way. But go to your BIOS screen when you start your computer and look for a screen that shows 'Wake up events' or similar. You may see one for 'Wake with PCI card' or similar.

Thanks for the replies.
I have gone into the BIOS which is very basic with very little information. There aren't any settings which relate to PCI cards apart form chosing /selecting between PCI or AGP for the main video graphics.
I guess i will have to leave the PC switched on. One does try to save on the enviroment- but it doesn't always work in practice! -
Go again in BIOS and search for power options. Set the thing to S3 mode (default is S1 mode).
If you need I will check my BIOS with the exact name of the setting for you - any modern 2-3 year old Motherboard support S3 wake up but you need to set it up in BIOS (I think I'm repeating myself...)
Good luck! -
Check your BIOS again for Wake On LAN. Your video card may be attempting to use that feature. If Wake on LAN is not an option in your BIOS, then your motherboard doesn't support it and your only option is to leave it on like FulciLives suggested.

I have gone into the BIOS again and found the following:
In "POWER"section which relates to "after AC power failure" i have the option to set it to [stay off] or [ Auto] or [power on] i have tried it set to power on but it still doesn't work.
In "BOOT DEVICE PRIORITY" i have the following:
First device FLOPPY
second device CD ROM
Third device Hard Disk
Fourth device Lan
I then entered last on the list:
"Hard disk boot priority"
and had the option to alternate the following two to 1st and 2nd positions:
1st "Pri M WDC WD800 EB-11DJFO"
2nd "Bootable Add in Cards"
i put "Bootable Add in Cards" into 1st position but it still did not work after a test.
Anybdy any ideas? -
Perhaps if you put your motherboard in your Computer Profile we could look up the specs for it to know your wake options. But, based on what you've told us, it doesn't look like your motherboard supports the Wake On feature.

My computer is an intel pentium 4 2.6ghz Compaq Presario S5190uk (uk version)
I believe the motherboard supplier is MSI
MS-6577 v 2.1
Xenon 4
chipset 845G
Thanks in advance for any help. -
OK here is a hint:
It might be either in Power menagment section or ACPI Configuration.
Search for ACPI Suspend mode.
The default is S1 (POS) or Power on suspend.
You should change it to S3 (STR) or Suspend to RAM if your system supports this mode.
But... 845 chipset - well I'm not sure. Those are more than 4 year old already...
Hope that helps! -
I wasn't able to find much helpful info on your motherboard as it seems to be proprietary to Compaq (now HP). Check HPs website for a BIOS update if you're not already on the last one, but chances are it's just too old to support the feature.

Thanks for all the help.
It seems my motherboard doesn't support this feature.
I wouldn't like to update the BIOS (if there is an update?) in fear that i may create problems for myself.
