It's just a graphics card. It has no video, since it's not AIW.

ATI's are easier that way. With some NVIDIA's you have to look for the VIVO label (video in, video out).

THanks SO MUCH for your quick replies.

Today I bought a TV Wonder 650 capture card...

And I bought Vegas Movie Studio +DVD.. I haven't opened the Vegas software yet because I can't find anywhere on here where it will capture analog. I want to put a vhs tape on my computer and edit it... the guy told me it would but I've dealt with a lot of guys who have told me that something was going to work trying to do this, and.... I'm still trying to find the solution to actually DOING it. lol
(oh and I haven't opened it because if it won't do what I want I will need to return it -- I can't afford to be out $200 today w/ nothing to show for it -- its pretty urgent...)

I tried capturing in Adobe Premiere but... it appears that only take DV ?? I couldn't get to see any of my vhs tape. I tried in Window s Movie Maker and could capture some but it looked like HELL on toast. I can't even fathom what I need to do to make it look normal there...

So ... can anyone tell me if the Vegas MS software is definately going to get me what I want?

Download my analog vhs material onto my computer, and then be able to edit it (in that software?) and make titles, chapters, etc. if I desire and burn to dvd..

    THANKS!

With Catalyst Media Center supplied with your new 650 card the answer should be yes. With other capture software and your 650? I don't know. I've read there is an issue of software compatibility with these cards but I don't own one so I don't know.

    Nice card.
    Good luck.

[edit] update your profile... add that new capture card.

OH okay, well I was able to capture from vhs. Yay.

NOW. I need to take an .avi I've made (or it could be a mpeg2, if need be I guess, not that that matters to me right now) but I want to COPY this .avi onto VHS again. Yes, its crazy, but... trust me, this is what I need to do right now... oy vay its annoying.
    lol

I have my vcr composite plugged into my TV Wonder 650 card. Played the .avi and hit record -(in the ATI Catalyst Media Center software that came w/the card) - of course that didn't work.

Any suggestions by any of you smarter people??
    I'd really appreciate it.

    And I'll update my profile.

    AHHHHHHH j%$##^**&

okay. Hey, I got my zipped .avi file small enough to put on a cd to put on my son's computer that has a dvd burner... so... I burned a dvd!!!

Doesn't play on my tv -- in my dvd player. Incompatible format.
Would anyone be kind enough to tell me what format I need?
Thanks in advance w/some sort of sugar on top...

and.... do I use the Vegas Studio software to make it that format?? Instead of windows movie maker (I knew it was too simple!! lol)

AND... can I open this .avi in the Vegas and... convert it to something useful??
    HELP!

(and yes, obviously I unzipped it first, it is a straight .avi file)

I'm not real sure since I don't have the same equiptment as you but I will give you a few ideas. ok.

Use the SVideo out on your ATI Radion video card and plug to the SVideo input on the VCR. How to enable 'Video Out' on ATI video cards - https://support.ati.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=408.

Then use Windows Media Player and play the video. Usually WMP will put the video it plays full screen out the SVideo when you begin playing the file. You can also drag the player --> right to the extended desktop area then make it full screen there. This will depend on how you have the Display tab setup. If you click one of the buttons in the display tab it will display full screen automatically. If you click the other button you will need to drag it to the extended desktop area.

Again, I'm only guessing your video card has SVideo out. You may need to use the TV output on your tuner card. How to enable or use that I don't know.

Other than that I would say you will need to create a DVD and play it on your settop box. If you need to learn how to do that you have come to the right place. Just start a new post on that subject and you will get lots of help.

Its been a long day here. Sorry if it shows.

    Good luck.
