Okay so this is an odd question, but here it goes.

I have two external HDs. One at School, One at Home.

I have to edit this video and want to be able to work from both school and home. Is it possible for me to put the same footage on both harddrives (keeping the filenames the same) and edit using whatever harddrive i have at the time?

Is this at all possible, or do I ahve to pick a HD and stick to it?

You can set the FW drive to be the Capture drive for your footage,
in both versions of Final Cut ( the School, the Home).
You save your Sequence to the FW drive (The new FCP project).

As long as the FW drive stays the same name and never changes,
then all should be fine. YOU will get prompts for LiveType,
and Soundtrack files being in different default locations,
but I use a program called Default Folder X ( you might not be
able to at school) to setup a list of Default Folders for
Soundtrack, Livetype, DVDSP, etc., so that if it does prompt me
for missing defaults, I quickly can cmd-# to it, and keep editing.

Also make sure the FW drive is up to snuff before doing this:
Do an Erase and clean it up before putting on new footage, as
the constant read writes to the drive will increase it's wear
and tear, and you want to, in this type of set-up, avoid
any possible disc errors, by making sure the drive is in top shape.

well what i was hoping is using two different FW drives...the one at school and the one at home and porting my Powerbook between the two...sort of the opposite of what you suggested (although the suggestion does solve a problem i had earlier)
