  1. For some reason my tv keeps stretching the video image of certain movies from widescreen to fullscreen, the movies are definately widescreen and work properly on other tv's and its not the dvd player cause different dvd players connected to the tv do the same thing and its not all widescreen movies that get stretched. Any help would be appreciated.

What kind of TV is this? Most importantly is it a 16x9 WS TV or a 4:3 TV and if it is a 4:3 TV does it have a 16x9 compression mode?

What kind of DVD player? Regular or progressive scan or up-converting? How do you have the settings set on it? Do the settings match the display? i.e., 4:3 Letterboxed or 16x9 WS etc.

Make and model numbers of your equipment would help plus how you have the DVD player connected to the TV i.e., composite, S-Video, component, DVI or HDMI etc.

In short need a lot more information.

  3. well the tv is a Sharpnot sure the model, its about 10 years old, 4:3 screen. The DVD player I'm using is a Samsung DVD-VR320 and no difference between connecting through RCA cables and through regular TV cable. I've also used my portable Poloroid dvd player same thing happens. Not too sure if it had a 16x9 compression. Hope that helps, thanks

    You know ...

    This is ridicules.

I ask for very specific answers to very specific questions all geared towards helping you solve your issue and what do you do?

You give a half assed response with not half the information I requested.

    Why even bother posting here?

Are you an f'ing retard or what?

    Damn.

    Have you checked this setting?

Both guns1inger and I have brought this up and chances are this is the actual problem as it would explain why some widescreen movies get stretched (those that are 16x9 WS enhanced) and why other widescreen movies do not get stretched (those that are "standard" 4:3 Letterboxed).

I mean it might be something else but you still haven't given much information nor have you described what settings you have tried, not tried, etc.

I mean NO ONE can help WITHOUT proper information and co-operation on your part.
