  2. Errrr! Ideas about what? Sorry your text was a little short on content.

What did you convert the AVI to? What was the result at the end of the Nero session?

my recommendation if you your dubbing a dvd is 3gp_Converter or gui4ffmpeg just do a search in the tools for those items and relative guides to them will show up.. while they're not exactly newbie friendly (with the exception of 3gp) they're about as all in one as it gets i personally use imgtool to burn the video_ts folder once i do the following.. take the avi that most of the has been encoded wrong so i have to reencode it w/ a cbr audio format to a mpg file i then import the mpg file into TMPGEnc DVD Author it then creates the video ts folder w/ the needed files etc.. imgtool just burns the folder appropriately so that it will play on your standalone player.. everything but tmpgenc dvd author is free..

edit: avi2dvd would be a simple solution if you're not creating a menu or compiling tv episodes or music videos into a single dvd (ie taking a full season of your favorite show and putting multiple episodes on one dvd) avi2dvd is a great solution for an avi that is meant to purely just go on a single dvd by itself

A couple of ideas. I'm guessing your downloaded video was a Xvid or Divx format? WinAVI is a lousy converter, IMO.
If Nero re-encoded it, which is likely if it took 2 hours, then it didn't like the converted file either.

Five hours is a long time to convert a video, unless you have a very slow system. If you had filled in your computer details we would have known that.

And it would help greatly if you gave more information about the original video. The buffer level sounds like a different problem, which is likely system related.

But outside of the buffer problem, you never said if the conversion was successful.

Try a program like ConvertXToDVD if you want to use a all-in-one converter.

With my system and using ConvertX, it takes about 45 minutes to convert a 90 minute Xvid to DVD format and about 8 minutes to burn it. Your speed would depend on your computer and software settings.
