Hi
Based on recommendations from this site, I purchased a LiteOn SHM165S drive and a Panasonic DMR ES 45VS DVD RAM recorded. I downloaded VideoRedo as well.
I recorded a program on the Panasonic and brought it to my PC and VideoReDe worked great. I removed the commercials and was all set.
I then took the DVD RAM Disk back to the Panasonic and put it back in and it said UNFORMAT. I was able to format the disk in about a minute.
AM I doing something wrong? Or is there a way around this? Or do I have to do this everytime and if so, does it decrease the life of the RAM disk
Thanks in advance for the help!
Dave

I use DVD-RAM (previously from an older panasonic now from a toshiba recorder) to transfer data to my computer. I never had the exact problem you had, but I actually always reformat between shows. When I first started transferring shows I was told that if you had more than one recording on a DVD-RAM sometimes it would not transfer properly and even deleting the show off of it would cause some unstated incompatibilty. I had some initial problems myself that seem to be resolved by reformatting. But it probably does decrease the life of the DVD-RAM somewhat. I have been basically using the same 4 DVD-RAMs for about 3 years; 1 did go bad during the first year.
