Is there a way I can check the quality of a burned audio CD? I know that the faster you burn, the more chance there are for errors. But is there a program that can actually show the difference between a disk burned at 16x, 32x and 40x?

  2. If your drive supports CD-R quality scans like one of mine,LiteOn SOHR-5239S,then you can download Nero CD-DVD Speed and use it to scan for C1/C2 errors. This will give you an idea of the quality of the media your using and the optimal burn speed.

yeah I just found that program - how many c1, c2 errors are acceptable? I'm burning taiyo yuden 52x discs at 32x and I only had a couple of c1 errors and no c2 errors....I assume this is good?

  4. With my LiteOn SOHR-5239S,anything under 800 C1 and no C2 is acceptable for my Taiyo Yuden and Mitsubishi Chemicals CD-R's.
Every drive will show a different amount of errors.
A couple of C1 errors is amazing.

Is your drive a reliable scanner?

    I don't know, it's just a cheap "Emprex" drive I bought at Fry's in 2004...

  6. I've had drives that only show a few C1 and they are not reliable for CD-R quality scans.
At CDFreaks they use the LiteOn SOHR-5239S for some tests in their drive reviews section,so I bought one and put it into an external case and connected via firewire. For example look here.
They use K-Probe but I use CD-DVD Speed instead.

I see... What's the best cd/dvd burner out there? I read that a lot of people liked Pioneer

  8. The Pioneer 111 is very good for DVD and CD burning.

I like my LG GSA-4167B as it gives good burns on TY and Mitsubishi Chemicals CD-R's.It likes DVD media with the MID's TYG02 for -R and MCC003/4 for +R.

So personally I'd recommend Pioneer 1st,LG 2nd,LiteOn or BenQ.

But for CD-R scanning I'd recommend the LiteOn SOHR-5239S,although the BenQ DW-1650/1655 can scan CD-R and DVD-/+R.
