DVD MAKING HELP!!!!!

have a problem. i've downloaded 16 episodes of kamen rider kabuto and put them in one file. the format of the episodes are AVI. and the 16 eps all together is a total of 3.36 GB i think. i have nero and i tried to make a DVD with but when i do that the dvd meter is double the normal dvd size. its about more than 8 GB and i dont get it. i realize that the AVI's have a good quality to them. so my question is how do you put over 16 episodes on a dvd without losing the quality of the video. I've bout some dvd's on ebay and they've manage to put over 13 episodes or so on a dvd. i would like to know what do i need to do to do this. i've tried many programs and i cant manage to decompress the avi's and make the DVD with those episode on them. HELP!!!!
