When I convert one of my DVD's to an .avi format, whether xvid or divx, can I keep the DTS track or does it always have to be the Dolby Digital track? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yes you can keep it "Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650)

BE aware that DTS audio will take up a lot more space than AC3 or other formats, and can only be played back on equipment that has a DTS dencoder in the chain. (i.e either your PC has decoding software, or you have a DTS decoding amplifier connected digitally to your DVD player/media centre)

/edit : clarify DTS decoder statementRead my blog here.
