I've converted several DVDs with the new hi-res iPod profile now and noticed just now that the end of the movies are corrupt in a way that the sound works but the picture doesn't.

Also I noticed that while the DVD is converting ffmpegx progress indicates 94% and all of a sudden it's finished. What's going on?

Another problem is cropping. I can't seem to be able to crop although I specify the pixels.

  2. For the end of the movie, could you please tell me more about what happens and whether it is consistently the same no matter the encoded source.

For the Progress, this may be normal, as sometimes the application fail to determine the exact duration of the movie, I'll have to make a more precise Progress for version 1.0.0.

For cropping, indeed it is not supported for now in iPod hi-res.

Well, it does the same thing no matter what the source (I've only tried VOBs from DVDs). If I play the movie normally, the picture freezes a few minutes from the end and the sound keeps on playing. Using my iMac the problem is the same. If I fast-forward to the end, it does the same thing. Picture freezes.

    Joshua.

  4. Which is the duration of these movies, and is the problem the same with short clips?

The movies I tried were mostly 1h30mins and one a bit over 2h. I tried on a non-joined vob file and there was no problem there.

  6. A non-joined VOB, do you mean that all the non working sources were joined VOBs?

Yes, they were joined with MPEG2 Works 4. That's a problem?

  8. Possibly yes, if the join was a mere stitching of the files. I would suggest to use MTR to extract the VIDEO_TS as a single VOB file (by using 'Chapter/Title' mode) and try again with such clean VOB.

I have several VIDEO_TS folders on my HD and MTR didn't seem to wanna extract any of them. That's why I resorted to MPEG2 Works. Does MTR only work on actual DVDs?
