    Hi All,

Recently purchased this PC from Comet
    http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/567_339423.html

I have a large selection of region 1 and region 2 DVDs, for some reason the region code will be fixed when I have changed the region more than 5 times. Well I have used it up and now I can only play one region, it is stuck on region 2, my region 1 dvds will not play now. My old dvd drive in my other PC I can change the region how many times I like.

    Thanks for any help.

I tried dvd43, did not seem to do anything. Then installed anydvd, it works but its Trialware. Don't fancy paying $39 for it though as I can watch region 1 stuff on my main dvd player.

Or you can try a firmware hack:

You seem surprised that this would happen, yet I am sure your player software would have warned you every time you switched regions.

You have two choices basically: if you don't want to convert your existing DVDs to region-free DVDs (requires blanks and DVD burner) then you need to do with the other suggestions.

Else, use a ripper to rip to HD and get rid of all the protection and region codes, then burn them back to DVD blanks.

    1. firmware hack

    2. Install another drive (keep set to Region 1)

If you have a large quantity of Region 1 DVDs, and not enough time to RIP and burn to Region Free, I believe this may be your best choices.
