I am preparing a presentation and want to insert a video clip from a DVD. I know there are copyright issues, but this is a presentation to a very small group of people!

I have a Mac, and have MTR, also FFMpegX, iSquint, Handbrake & DVD2One. So I can extract a chapter & compress it, but all I want is a 20 second clip.

Can anyone recommend a process or software to produce a clip?

Ultimately it will probably have to go into Powerpoint, so clip will need to be windows playable.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Since this appears to be a Mac specific question, it would be better off in the Mac Forum. Moving you.

    And welcome to our forums.

After you rip the DVD you can select the 20 second clip with MPEG Streamclip using its Trim option and export it to QuickTime or whatever format you need.

Another possibility is the CINEMATIZE software which above 2.0 and in concert with the
QuickTime 7.0 MPEG-2 component, will do what you require, without TRANSCODING the video if desired...
(i.e. you end up with a 20 second program or transport stream of the mpeg-2 that was processed ..also you can convert as with stramclip)
tCinematize is very user friendl-however, this solution isn't free like stremclip

I also like Cinematize 2. For clarification, it is MPEG Streamclip that requires purchasing the Quicktime MPEG 2 component from Apple. Cinematize does not need that to do the extraction. Both Cinematize and Streamclip can save as MPEG or convert to Quicktime.

  6. I just did this the other day for a Keynote presentation, I used Handbrake and it worked great. You only need to rip the chapter you want, not the entire dvd. Set Handbrake to save as a mp4 and then open it in Quicktime Pro. I then edited it down to the specific scene I needed.
