This is driving me nuts. I created a project where I shot video in 16:9. I then edited the project in 16:9. I see the proper ratio in the upper right hand preview pain. When I go to "make move" and create the .avi file i am forced to accept 4:3 dimensions. If I try to change the height and width of the film I get either 4:3 or a movie that is really tall. Any suggestions on how to keep my formatting once I make my movie?

The "really tall" output is 16:9, but possibly missing the aspect ratio flag being set for this. Although DV avi does have an aspect ratio flag, many players ignore it anyway. You might be able to set it correctly with mpeg4modifier after it has been output to avi.

If your target is mpeg2 for DVD, you can output it as a "really tall" 4:3, then set the 16:9 flag during the mpeg encoding process (or afterwards with Restream or similar tools) and author accordingly.

I don't know why Pinnacle is getting it wrong though.
