I have tried Nero and about 3/4 of the way through the video file the audio and video get out of sync. I get errors with AVI2DVD and The Film Machine and DVDsanta. Anyone have any better tools or some answers?

Bad AVI, it sounds like. Better source material the solution is.
...or read the guide (somewhere around here) on how to mask bad frames with VirtualDubMP3Freeze. Not that it has ever made me any good, but if you're up to a lot of work with little hope for success...
...and avoid Nero for video conversions.
