I've tried a few different things, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Using SUPER to convert the .flv file seems to work fine. I can play the resulting .avi in WMP (version 9), but for some reason Pinnacle (Studio version 9.3) doesn't seem to be able to handle them. When I try to use .avi within Studio, they literally cause the program to shut down.

I went back into Pinnacle and found that it only accepts Type 2 - DV .avi. I wasn't sure if SUPER created Type 2. So I downloaded Canopus Converter but was unable to use it to access the .avi created with SUPER - instead I got an error message (the source file cannot be converted by this application). I had similar trouble when trying to access the .avi using afreeCodecVT.

So basically here's my question: Has anyone successfully converted another file format into an .avi using SUPER and then, used that .avi in Pinnacle (Studio)? Is it possible to do and if so, what am I doing wrong? When I converted the .flv into an .avi, I used mencoder, H.264/AVC, and mp3 for audio, set at 29.97 fps, bitrate 1536, with no change to the video scale size. Should I have been using different settings?

For the record I also tried converting the file into Mpeg I. Similar results. It plays fine in WMP, but the file displays no video when I attempt to use it with Pinnacle. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.[/i]

If you set it to AVC, then it isn't Type 1 or Type 2 DV since it isn't DV at all, it is AVC. If you selected lossless though, then you can convert your AVC avi to DV without any quality loss from converting to AVC (DV is still lossy). mencoder can output DV directly though. You should set the audio to PCM instead of mp3 though.
