Just curious to hear some feedback on performance when rendering projects?

4400 is a lil more powerful than the 3800, but that's good to know
Doesn't Intel generally perform better when rendering than AMD? -
All other things being equal, (Which they never are.
) CPU speed is the most important factor for encoding speed. Intel and AMD have gotten fairly close in performance. It may come down to the motherboard chipset, how memory is handled, bus speeds and a lot of other factors to determine which performs better in certain operations. Even dual CPUs may not be faster if the encoder programs don't make use of their capabilities. Same thing with 64bit CPUs compared to 32bit and the operating systems used.
At least in the past, the big difference was price. AMD had more 'bang for the buck', but Intel is competitive again with pricing. But I still like AMD.
EDIT: I have a 3800+ AMD AM2 Athlon in one of my computers, but it's not a X2. -
Is it automatic? Or are there any configuration changes we should make to take full advantage? Does that mean rendering should be 2wice as fast on a Dual CPU machine?
