A quick browse of our media database would seem to indicate that for the most part, Philips buy crap media to sell under their name. Try using verbatim media, and burning with imgburn.

  3. For a $3000.00 device I just dont understand why Denon still refuses to ad SACD support along with their DVD-A capability.
Anyway, I would use Taiyo Yuden G02 8X -R media. Make sure to use "- (dash)" as there is no explicit support for DVD+R/RW. I guess you already know that though. Also "Mode 1 " seems superior to mode 2.
    Nice unit you got there.

I Have burned a Verbatim DVD-R using Nero. I still get the freezing, probs.
Tomorrow i will burn again a Verbatim using the program gunslinger is teling me.
@nitelight...mode 1, 2 ? iam searchin, and searchin, but what does that mean, and where must i set this in my burnprogramm ?

And, yes its a nice DVD player, but this problem, takes al the fun out of it.
First i will try another burnprogramm

this is a known problem with this denon ..... there is no good solution other than replacing it with another player for burned disks ...

the 10 grand krell also has the same issue so dont feel bad

    Holy cow !

There must be a solution that the player will accept burned DVD.
I've red some stuff about a faulty laser-pickup with some specific serials of these 3800 players.
Meanwhile ths whole thing driving me nuts.
Wish there was anyone here on this forum who can tell me the right burn/band DVD solution.

From BJ_M is saying, your best (and possibly only) solution is to get yourself a cheap player for playing your burned material on. The Denon simply won't do it.

I guess that's the only way to do it..
    I informed and a laser-repair cost me a 120 euro.
And with a risk that iam not sure that the player can read burned DVD properly.

    So ,,a bit off topic
Any suggestions wich DVD player "eats" everything ??

Many thanks for helping me !!

I have a denon DVD-3800 also. I use Maxell dvd-r 16X media and have no problems at all. I use Nero 7.5.9.0 for burning dvd's. My Denon unit was manufactured in September 2002. I have also had success with benq 4X media as well as Memorex DVD+R DL 2.4X. The unit is not even supposed to accept and +R media but does some and not others. I wish you success as this unit is a very fine product. I use it primarily for an audio player and most often for listening to dvd-audio and 5.1 dts audio disks. The sound is spectacular. I have several MP3 dvd's burned on Maxell media and even MP3's sound fantastic played through this player. I almost forgot....WinXp SP2....LG 16X burner with 2.4 dual layer capability. Good luck.
