  1. Greetings - I have a 1GB .AVI video (Panasonic DV Codec, 720x480) that I would like to show on a web page in a player. I am using the QuickTime embedded player/viewer. My problem is now converting this video.

    I need to convert this .AVI video to .MOV (QuickTime). I am sure I will need to reduce image size (perhaps to 480x320 ?) while converting it.

    Can anyone recommend a codec to use for .MOV that will result in a quality picture but reduce the file size A LOT (like down to 100MB'ish). I have tried Sorensen and Cinepak and they result in a very large file.

    I have lots of converter tools at my disposal:
    * Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5
    * WinAVI Converter
    * QuickTime Pro
    * And several other freeware converters

    Any help/suggestions would be most appreciated.

    Thanks, Mark

  2. Quicktime 7 allows for the H.264 codec, so I'd try saving as an mp4 file (just "export" to mp4, it's an option in QT Pro) and you'll save a bunch of disk space that way. You can easily squeeze a gig down to 100mb, though of course not at 720x480.
