My sister-in-law has a paper that was published on a web site and she's trying to get a nice printed copy and has me to help. Printing it directly doesn't work because of built-in objects with persistent links. Even if I save it as an html file, though the page shows it's coming from my local drive, some images are still only available via http links. I've downloaded an add on for IE that was supposed to print to PDF but it generates the same output as though just printing it.
Is there to print, exactly, what is on a website's page? I'm only familiar with IE but if another browser has the built-in functionality or via an add-on, that's OK too. Whatever gets the job done. She'd like to have the article look just like the web page with headers and formating. Any help would be appreciated. I can provide the link if necessary.

It's a fairly long article. If it was a single page, maybe, then just a little trimming needed. There actually aren't a lot of objects to get, maybe a dozen or so. Those I could probably print-screen, save and use them in the locally saved page. But... I'm not that good with web pages... not something I ever picked up.

Go to Tools > Internet Options, and click on the Advanced tab in the options window. Scroll down in the list to the 'Printing' header. Is "Print background colors and images" enabled?

I had looked there but didn't find anything (IE9 64-bit). Did find it when I did a print-preview and look at Settings. No change.

If I had to guess, it looks like it's using MS Word for it's printing. Looks like the same formatting.

More likely the fault is in the chosen printer setup ... print preview first, if all looks fine then try adjusting the chosen printers advanced options until output is correct.

I use PDFCreator most of the time when printing web pages. You don't have to commit anything to paper and ink/toner if your format settings, etc. aren't right. When the PDF looks correct, then print it. You also get a digital copy for future reference.

sometimes highlighting what you want from a page and right clicking/copy then pasting into word will let you edit it to just what you want. or highlighting then clicking print "selection" rather than the page - even selection into pdf sometimes works.

You might go ahead and try a different browser, then. I've always had better results printing from Firefox than IE.
Or, if you don't mind posting the link to the page you're trying to print, I or someone else could see if we could make a 'correct' PDF of it. Or maybe someone might be able to tell what IE's print routines don't like about the page.If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
BJs - I'll look at that next. Wasn't much for options in the print preview but I'll keep going in that direction for now.
JimmyS - Tried that last night too. The PDF generated looks just like the direct print method, just in a PDF. Though, some charts did come out correctly.
aedipuss - Tried doing that as well, pasting into Word. No luck...
Ai Haibara - Will be installing Firefox later to see if that helps or it has add-ons that would be more helpful.
Thanks everyone for your input. If anyone is willing to give it a try, here's the URL:

She interested in keeping the nice logo/header at the top (no need for any of the other links above it), the formatting of the article with their photos and all charts in the same positions. The end of the article has some website specific stuff with links which isn't necessary either.Have a good one,

She's happy, I'm happy! Thanks a bunch everyone for your suggestions and escpecially to aedipuss for the PDF. It took some manual effort to get it done and I (and she) are very appreciative.

Some webpages that use css style sheets do not have a style sheet for printing. You might try editing the html of your saved page and add a line for the "print" style sheet. Start by using the same style sheet, but you may even have to modify that... but maybe not.
