can someone tell me where i can find a guide to do this, either with VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod
also why cant VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod save as .mpeg

VD is a AVI format program. If you want to save as a MPEG, you will need a MPEG encoder. If you have an encoder like TMPGEnc or a few others, you can frameserve the edited output directly to it and avoid a in between file.
There is a codec, YMPEG, that will work with VD and produce a MPEG output.
EDIT: Note that YMPEG is payware and for a few dollars more you can get TMPGEnc encoder that will work with VD when using a frameserver.

I have copied a vhs to my pc but trouble is there is comercials in it and if I cant see movie to where I want it cut how can I do this as in VirtualDub when I click preview input or even filterd the movie is playing ok but I need to move it in parts so I get to where 1st part ends. yes I have looked at previous posts and was going to ask this but had forgot, like I had also forgot about top of page here too. if anyone can understand what I mean please reply as I cant find anything that will let me move movie to where I want, unless I dont have VD set up right.
