I am sure this is simple, I am just not searching using the correct terminology.

From a menu, I call different chapters. Everytime I go back to that menu, I want the menu's cursor to automatically position itself on the next item (link). I seen this done many times in commercial DVDs so this must be easily do-able.

I am using DVDlab. What term(s) should I search for in help file?

    TIA

Have you had a look at the online support? It's pretty comprehensive:

There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

It depends on how you return to the menu as to whether or not it can be done.

If you are talking about selecting a chapter in a single movie, letting the movie play for a bit, hitting the menu button, and having it return to a different chapter button - I don't believe it can be done. You can return to the last button pressed in this case, but that is about it. I don't believe I have seen a commercial disc that can do this either.

If you are talking about using chapter play lists to play a chapter in isolation, or playing small clips and then returning to the menu at the end, then it is simple if DLP. Go to the Connections window, select the object (movie, chapter play list) and then set the end action. Here you can select a menu and button to return to.

Which version of DVD Lab are you using - Standard, Studio, Pro 1.x or 2.0

In DVDLab PRO, you can store the button that was pressed (in a GPRM), then on your next visit back to that menu you can set the highlight button based on your stored value.

Thanks guys, I had hoped to stay away from the hard coding stuff but I guess no ezier way eh. Dealt into the GPRM works.

Curiously, as comprehensive as the DVDlab doc is said to be, I had to google to find out what is assigned to the SPRMs and was able to use SPRM8 for "last button." Good thing this stuff seems to be standardized.

    Thanks again.

Exactly Now you are on your way to really starting to get creative with your dvd navigation and playback features -- this is what makes DVD Lab PRO such an advanced SD DVD Authoring application (ability to manipulate sprm/gprm values within the software)

DVDAuthor is pretty good for this kind of "creative authoring" too, but perhaps a little less pointandclicky than DVD-Lab...
