  1. I'm looking for a program that would allow me to trim or cut parts of a video without having to go through the entire process of encoding. Any suggestions of a few good ones?

    Thanks,
    Wy

For avi files, virtualdub in Direct Stream Copy mode, however it can only cut on I-frames.

    crazysxycool,

Hi. I recommend Womble product namely MPEG Video Wizard for you. I think it's suit for you.

To trim a video clip in the Input Monitor:
    1. Input a clip into the Input Monitor.
    2. Use Mark In and Mark Out to select your segment.
    3. To save it as a new MPEG file, select 'Trim...' from the menu using the right mouse button.
    4. You may delay the file creation by selecting Trim Manager/Add and then Trim Add to add it to the batch list.
    5. You can also add the trimmed clip to the Clip List in the Project Manager by selecting Add to Clips.

    Wish to help you.

  7. I've used VideoReDo to trim MPEG and VOB files with frame accuracy and no re-encoding (okay a small amount right at the cut point might be necessary).

Ok nightcat - I have a question. Why is there an input and output window?
Seems like your suggestion works, but I'm curious as to why there are 2 windows.

    Thanks.

    crazysxycool,

The MVW has two windows namely monitors, with similar looks and controls, for previewing clips and edited content.

As my comprehension and use. I think the Input Monitor is used for previewing source movie videos, and the Output Monitor is used for previewing edited content on the Timeline.

Though it's confused me in the beginning, it's very useful.
