So for the past 2 years I've been doing the basic rip with DVD Shrink to iso & burn with Decrypter. Never a problem until last week when I reformatted <yet again> and for some reason now I cant write my iso files.![]()
At first I suspected SP2 as I'd been avoiding it all this time because I'd heard of all the conflicts it creates, but with this last reformat SP2 snuck past me on the auto-updates. Anyway I uninstalled that and still no go. Then I slunk back on the forums here but search yielded nada. Figured I'd try ImgBurn as it seems to be the replacement for Decrypters writing tool. Same errors.
Can anyone take a peek at my log file & tell me what you see? Much appreciated ;o)

humba12,
First of all, I see this was your first post, so welcome to VideoHelp.
At least you were doing a "Test Mode" burn, so you didn't make a coaster (not this time, anyways).
The problem almost certainly isn't the disks. TYG02 are used to good effect by many of the members of this forum, including me.
I see your burner firmware is 1.05, and there is a 1.0b version available here, but that would only affect the efficiency of the burning, add compatibility for more media, and let you burn those TYG02s at a higher speed. If you've been burning for 2 years and it hasn't been a problem, that shouldn't be the source of your current problem.
One thing that I immediately noticed is that your burner has outlasted any burner I've ever had...by far. I've had 2 (maybe 3) burners that failed in the last two years. The reason I mention it is, in a "Test Mode" burn, the media isn't really written to. It's more to check the computer - burner part. Since the "Test Mode" burn started fine, but soon popped up the error, my first guess was the problem is an older burner that's dying.
As I read on though, I see that the actual burn started at about 10:24, and failed about six and a half minutes later, having written only approximately 5,000 sectors. That is waaaaay too slow. Have you checked to see if the drive is running in DMA mode, and not PIO? That's the first thing you should check. It's so important, I'll hold off with further troubleshooting until you can check it.
If you're not familiar with how to check it, here's a description:- Right click on [My Computer] and select [Properties] from the menu. Click [Device Manager] on the [Hardware] tab, then click to open the [IDE ATA/ATAPI (hard disk) controllers] section. You will find the Primary IDE Channel controller, Secondary IDE Channel controller. Complete the following procedure:
1. Right click on the Primary IDE controller and select [Properties] from the menu.
2. Select the [Advanced Settings] tab. Check that the [Transfer Mode] for both devices is set to [DMA if available], and that the [Current Transfer Mode] is DMA, not PIO.
3. Repeat this for Secondary IDE controller.

Yep, everything said DMA
Just out of curiosity I tried writing VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders in Roxio just to see if the burner works at all, and that was fine.... -
Drives don't last forever though, yours might be on it's way out.
If the drive says it can't write to the disc, it can't write to the disc.
That error comes straight from the drive (or at least it should do), so this can only really be a problem between your drive, its firmware and the media.
btw, for DMA stuff you really need to delete the controller and reboot. Windows often claims its in DMA mode when in fact it is not. This is a very common fault. -
OK well thanks for the info. Everything seems to be writing just fine except .iso files so for now I suppose I'll just keep writing to folders.
Thanks!
