Hi, I used TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 yesterday to convert my avi film into mpg2 format (to burn on a DVD so I can watch it as a regular DVD)

    But heres the problem.

1.) I ended up with two separate files. One was the m2v movie file. And the other was a .wav file.

2.) The m2v file has no sound when I try to play it as it isd. But more importantly, the .wav file is completely silent when I try to play it as it is.

What did I do wrong? Why is the .wav file silent, and how do I merge these two to become one single mpg2 file that I can burn?
Or how do I burn them on a DVD so that they'll work properly?

    Thanks in advance

    2. m2v is just audio. but it should be audio in the wav, could be your audio source, see www.videohelp.com/tmpgenc#problem

Or just use an all-in-one tool like ConvertXtoDVD and convert to DVD.

  3. Place the mouse cursor over the "Stream Type" box and read the Tool Tip.

m2v is just audio? That's strange, cause when I open it, it starts playing as a soundless video file. I took a screen cap.

(The movie is playing in the background, but it looks like a black screen on the screen shot for some reason)

I will try that, thanks. But I preferably want a program where I can cut out a scene or two, like with TMPGEnc. Can I do that with ConvertXtoDVD?

Baldrick slipped on the keys - m2v is video only.
You get elementary streams (one video + one audio) as that's what you've selected. Check system stream if you want an mpg (even if most authoring apps handle (and even prefer) elementary streams).
The reason the wav is silent, is because the AVI contains audio in a format TMPGEnc can't understand.
Convert it to wav with Goldwave, or directly to AC3 (best for DVD) with ffmpeggui (both load the AVI). Then take your m2v and AC3 to the authoring app (TDA, DVD-Lab & c)

    /Mats
