  1. I noticed that VideoStudio 10 has DVD authoring. A few questions:
    1. Is the layout and operation like Moviefactory?
    2. Does it have all the basic nessesities for making DVD with video, slideshows and motion menus?
    3. Can it author 5.1 audio?

Also does VS10 editor have smart render?

    Thanks...

1: Same as version 9 ... different layout to movie factory all together ... movie factory is junk in my book's , simple , but junk .
    2: Yes / Yes / Yes , but a pain in the butt .
3: No ... you need the plus version .

http://www.ulead.com/vs/ to find out all about it .

Smart rendering ... Alway's , you decide if it's needed when you go to encode .

Consider the bonus's that it come's with such as one of the best mpeg cutter's ... for the price , you getting very good value .

Throw in some freeware application's and you can do anything ...

The plus version support's 5.1 audio and is hd dvd ready ... though check the spec's out just to do all that .

    -------------------------

    Intel® Pentium® 4 or higher
    Microsoft® Windows® 2000 SP4, Windows® XP SP2 Home Edition/Professional, Windows® XP Media Center Edition, Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition
256 MB of RAM (512 MB or more recommended)
1 GB of available hard disk space for program installation
Windows-compatible sound card (multi-channel sound card for surround sound support recommended)
    Windows-compatible CD-ROM for installation

Then the kick in the pant's part :

    Non-Proxy HDV editing requires*
    Intel® Pentium® 4 3.0 GHz or higher with Hyper-Threading technology
Microsoft® Windows® XP (Service Pack2 for HDV camcorder support recommended)
1 GB of RAM (2GB or more recommended)
    16X PCI Express™ display adapter

Crap ... look's like I'll have to build a pc just to suite it now ... wont be throwing version 9 out soon any time .

Yes, I keep forgetting the two different versions of VS10 (regular and plus -- I was talking about the Plus version -- I've made a note to myself to remember in the future to specify which version)

I don't think the layout for DVD Authoring in VS10+ is that much different than MovieFactory 5.0 -- including the HD-DVD Authoring support.

  5. OK great. I have VS7 and MovieFactory3. But now I want 5.1 audio, Authoring, and smart rendering.

I agree, VS10 plus is a good value for what it comes with. Im going to get it.

    Thanks.
