I have Nero 7 but I dont like it. It is so slow and some times my audio is way off. I was wondering if anyone knew of something that will work for better authoring?

DVD Flick is fast and pretty easy to use. The current beta allows for menus, although I haven't tried it yet. It is a free product.
FAVC is slower, but the quality is higher (it uses the excellent HCEnc encoder) and for advanced users there are more options, if you know some avisynth. It can also do simple text item menus. Excellent for PAL to NTSC conversions, it also does half-D1 and VCD resolution encoding for those that like to put 8 hours on a disc (sad bastards that they are). Also free.
ConvertXtoDVD is also fast and reliable. It currently does simple text item menus, but the new beta (version 3) expands this somewhat and adds a whole slew of other tricks. Not free.
Some of these have built-in burning, and some use other engines. Personally, I do all my DVD Video burning (and in fact, most of my burning, period) with Imgburn.Read my blog here.
