  1. Hi, its the first time I burn a dvd video
I have downloaded 2 avi files, and i have burn these in 2 dvds (in dvd format) using "ConvertXToDVD".
My dvd record is: SONY DW Q30A
    My DVD-R was "Imation 8x"
It burned ok, at the max velocity.
When i tried to play these DVDs in my home dvd player, (philips LX3600D) it said "loading" for a lot of time, then i could see the DVD.
When i tried to play those DVDs in another home dvd player, it said "loading" and then it couldnt be possible to see the dvd: "NO DISC"

The same with another DVD that i burned: a photo dvd (i burned it with nero). in my philips LX3600D it said "loading" for a lot of time, then i could see the DVD.

What is wrong? why i couldnt see my dvds in my dvd home player?

    Please help meeee!!!

PD: these DVDs works perfectly in any PC dvd player

(sorry if my english is poor :S im from argentine)

Imation don't have a great reputation, so the problem could be as simple as poor discs, or poor compatability between the discs and your players.

    I would try the following

    1. Test the discs in other players. If they consistently have problems, the issue is most likely the disc.

    2. Read test the discs using DVD Info Pro, just to make sure they burnt correctly

    3. Buy a handful of discs of another brand, preferably TY or Verbatim discs and see if they are more successful.

Yes. DVDs are burned as a single session disc. If you burn with ConvertXtoDVD, or any software that knows how to burn DVD Video, then it will create a single session disc.

  5. so, what is the problem ? :S the dvd? its an imation 8x (fujifilm). i burnt it at 8x :S
in 2 standalone dvd players, they delay a lot of time to be read (and in someone, they doesnt work). in PCs they work perfectly
dvdinfopro say that its all ok

Have you tested a different brand of media on your players ?
have you tried these discs on other players ?

Not all players will play all discs - there are basic compatability issues that come into play. There is no such thing as a universally playable disc.

  7. The disc may read fine on the PC (using the same DVD drive that created it), but not so well on another DVD drive (such as in your DVD Player(s)).

To rule out media problems, try a different brand of DVD-R. Preferably a quality brand such as Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. If you still have problems reading the disc on your DVD Player(s), no matter what brand of media you try, then it's more likely that the problem is in how you are creating the disc.

The things that could be wrong in this situation include:

    1) bad authoring
    2) bad writer
    3) bad disc
    4) bad player

(Additionally, often there are compatibility problems between brands of discs and models of writers/players.)

By trying different authoring/writer/disc/player you can get to the bottom of which is the problem.

Authoring is what takes place between creating a DVD compliant mpeg file, and actually burning it to disc. It's the step where your DVD file structure and menus are created.

Look to the left of the screen, the HOW TO -> AUTHOR will answer yoru first question.

You can either guess at which of those things is causing your problem or you can try to isolate the source of the problem experimentally, by trying different authoring/writer/discs/players and see what effect the changes have on the problem. For example, if you try a different brand of disc and the problem goes away, that's a clue. Same with the other things that may be causing your problem.
