  1. *Edit*
Ok... new info. I somehow (not sure what happened) fixed the original problem (I kept the original post below) and can now open up my d2v files and convert them to AVI. However, I've got a new problem now (why does a new problem always pop up when you fix the old one?). It will open, it will convert, yadda yadda that's great. However, the avi it creates can't be read!! Again, this didn't used to be a problem but it's doing it now. All the older avi files I made with this still work but the newer ones being converted aren't recognized anymore. So umm... can anyone fix this problem please??!! Thanks in advance.

    *ORIGINAL PROBLEM*
Hi again... well umm, I'm having problems with the VFAPI Converter as stated in the subject. This is that program that you use to convert d2v files into avis so that you can edit them or add subtitles and whatnot. Anyhow, it was working fine... and then now, all of a sudden, when I try to open a d2v file, I get some sort of wierd error where it says something like "_______ (file name) ________." and an "Ok" button to push. So I have no idea what the error is and I can't seem to open the files anymore. Does anyone have an idea as to what I can do to fix this? Or if not, does anyone know of a different program to use? Thanks in advance

I have encountered the same problem once. In my opinion I had two options:
1 - spent a lot of time investigation the problem.
2 - Remove all related software (DVD2AVI, VFAPI, VIRTUAL DUB, and install them back again. (you can do this in 5 minutes)

I picked option 2, and the problem was gone.

  3. well the Vfapi converter in not a real avi maker it only makes a fake avi for d2v or tpr files so that they can be read by other encoders that doesnt recongizes them like PWI and the newer CCE
